A Little About me.

I am a Ph.D. Candidate under the supervision of Dr. Charlene Senn, a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Violence against Women. My research primarily focuses on women's experiences of sexuality and sexual agency in a society that both rewards and penalizes women for taking control of their sexual experiences. Additionally, I am interested in exploring the impact of social inequities on individuals' experiences of sex, gender, and violence. I also always enjoy discussing or incorporating feminism into my research.

I have recently completed my dissertation data collection and am working on data analysis. My dissertation research is mixed methods and looks at women’s experiences of sexual agency and sexual violence in a society influenced by oppressive structures that impact and constrain our choices. I am also completing my doctoral internship at the Dalhousie Centre for Psychological Health. For this internship, I am conducting a program evaluation of a new clinical psychology residency program designed to enhance mental health services for underserved populations, including Black, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and newcomer communities in Nova Scotia. Additionally, I am developing allyship training resources for CPH and working with their community partners to ensure they engage in meaningful allyship efforts beyond basic-level engagement.

Continuously seeking opportunities to expand and enhance my research abilities, I had the privilege of participating in a one-month intensive course on Human Sexuality at the Kinsey Institute. This invaluable experience deepened my understanding of the intricate aspects of human sexuality and broadened my expertise in the field. Collaborating and connecting with researchers from diverse disciplines allowed me to explore the intersections and interactions of concepts across fields.

I am excited to continue expanding my knowledge and skills to better understand and promote the well-being of individuals, specifically those who identify as women in relation to sexuality, gender, and violence.
